The Montgomery County Environmental Learning Center provides an up-close look at the solid waste management system and encourages in-person visitors to learn more about everyday sustainable practices. Trivium aimed to create a similar experience online, providing games, videos and interactive learning experiences to bring the importance of sustainability right into their own homes or classrooms. Not only does the website contain activities for elementary and middle school students, but also a virtual tour guided by the ELC’s beloved mascot, Curby the Cardinal. The Virtual Tour allows any online visitor to walk through the Environmental Learning Center’s space, view the interactives and videos that demonstrate complex concepts such as renewable energy, daily water use and systems, where trash goes when it leaves your house, and how to reduce, reuse and recycle every day.
This project won the National Association for Interpretation's 2022 Media Award.
