Trivium collaborated with the Taft Museum of Art to think of a new interactive way to bring the history of their institution—a historic house—to life. The Taft team wanted to tell the story of the house and its inhabitants, as well as its connections to Cincinnati, in a manner that was both unique yet still fit within the historic space. Using the content as our jumping off point, Trivium developed the idea of an interactive book—or Memoirs of a Mansion—that can be found in the Music Room, where the home’s inhabitants did much of their entertaining. Visitors to the Taft can explore the different eras of the house, including who lived there and how it changed over time by “flipping” the pages of the book. As this concept design phase began in the early stages of Covid, we conceived of both a touchable and touchless way for users to interact with the content.
This project won the National Association for Interpretation's 2023 Media Award.
